“Contactos con la naturaleza”: la relación entre ser humano y medio ambiente en las caminatas Fundación Confiar

Las Caminatas Fundación Confiar nacieron en 1990 por motivación de asociados de Cotrasofasa interesados en crear una dinámica regular de caminatas al interior de la cooperativa. Entre 1990 y 1997 se fue construyendo una manera particular de llevar a cabo las caminatas, en la que los temas ambientales y la contemplación jugaban un papel importante. Durante este lapso, Cotrasofasa se convirtió en Confiar Caja Cooperativa y surgió la Fundación Confiar, la cual asumió la organización de las caminatas en 1997. Entre 1997 y 2011, el número de personas que participaba de las caminatas creció. Estas personas impulsaron iniciativas tales como la “Reserva Ahuyama”, grupo de ahorro que orientaba sus recursos hacia la participación en el Encuentro Nacional de Caminantes, evento anual que comenzó a ser referente para los participantes de las caminatas.  Por otra parte, aparecieron regulaciones administrativas que obligaron a la Fundación a buscar operadores formales para realizar labores de guianza. Fue así, entonces, como durante esta época algunas organizaciones de caminantes de la ciudad asumieron el desarrollo de los recorridos. En estos años, hubo momentos de desencuentro entre la Fundación y sus operadores en cuanto a enfoque: mientras que la Fundación pretendía un estilo de caminata contemplativo, parsimonioso, familiar, sus operadores impulsaban una forma de caminar competitiva y físicamente exigente.

Finalmente, en 2011, la Fundación estableció una alianza con Centro Taller Recreo, organización que le ha ayudado a fortalecer su idea de lo que significa caminar. Hasta la fecha, Caminatas Fundación Confiar se desarrolla gracias al trabajo articulado de ambas organizaciones. 

Desde finales del siglo pasado, el cooperativismo ha venido sufriendo cambios importantes. Uno de estos cambios es el debilitamiento de su naturaleza asociativa y el fortalecimiento de su naturaleza empresarial. En el caso colombiano, tras la crisis financiera del año 2000, muchas cooperativas desaparecieron. Entretanto, buena parte de las que permanecieron fortalecieron su naturaleza empresarial para sobrevivir en el mercado. En la actualidad, Confiar pasa por un proceso de consolidación de su naturaleza empresarial en detrimento de su naturaleza asociativa. Esto se evidencia en la reciente migración de varios programas de la Fundación Confiar hacia las áreas comerciales de Confiar. Se abre, pues, la posibilidad de que en algún momento las Caminatas Fundación Confiar sufran el mismo destino. Esto genera preocupación y tensión entre quienes hacen parte del programa desde hace varios años, ya que no se sabe a ciencia cierta de qué manera se afectaría el programa si dicho cambio ocurriese.

En medio de este panorama incierto, esta sistematización aparece como un respiro, como un escenario de resistencia para hacer visible el valor, no sólo del programa de caminatas, sino de la Fundación Confiar.
